I’ve been hearing a lot about Manny’s finest Dubstep night from fellow DJ friends who have played there & I’m really looking forward to playing a full Dubstep only set on Thursday 4th Feb at the No.1 Club. It will also mark my first Manchester gig in a very long time – my Speakerbox tour date at Pure in May was the last time I was in the city. The Murkage Cartel have kindly given us a pair of guest list places for the night for me to give away here too…

The mighty RAM Records are celebrating their 1 year anniversary of holding big roadblock parties at London’s Matter club and as you’d expect, the line up is ridonkulously hench and in their madness, they’ve booked me to headline Room 2! All the details are on the flyer above – it will be my second set ever at Matter and I’m expecting to go in hard so if you want to be part of it, tickets are on sale here. So I was supposed to be DJ’ing at Nick Grimshaw’s Festive Festival tonight at BBC Maida Vale studios live on Radio 1 alongside Toddla T & Kissy Sell Out but then this happened…
I live 70 miles outside of the big smoke and was pretty much completely snowed out of London. So I spent 3 hours putting together a mix for them to use on the show only for it to be delivered “too late”… Oh well! So it wasn’t a total waste of my time, I’m gonna give it to you for free right here. Tracklisting after the jump. Merry Christmas.

The verses over Nas’ “One Love” is like a warm up for the bars he spat over Jay-Z’s “Threats” beat! And the bars on “Threats” were written in the car on the way to 1Xtra hence the paper in his hand while he spat the lyrics. Jheez!

I can’t remember ever hearing a more honest British HipHop record – Scorz really bares his soul on this and breaks down the story of why he disappeared from the game 5 years ago. He passed through my show last night and blessed us with a live performance of Luv Me and also an amazing freestyle (video coming soon).
While we wait for his album proper to drop in Feb, he’s put together a new free mixtape called “The Starter” that you can download for free from here – I highly recommend it. Everyone’s going crazy over the Sidney Samson track that damaged so many resorts this Summer & I’ve been spinning on 1Xtra and Radio 1 since August. Well, the track is getting an official release in January 2010 on Data/Ministry of Sound, comes with some amazing remixes courtesy of Breakage & Lil Silva and nearly tears the place apart whenever I spin it in clubs.
For those people wondering where the ‘Riverside motherf*****’ sample the track is built around came from, it’s from one of my favourite films ever ‘Juice’ which was released in the early 90’s and starred a then unknown Tupac alongside Omar Epps & Khalil Kain. This is a classic film that belongs in everyone’s collection and the clip below shows where Sidney Samson got the sample from – caution, it contains swearing & violence…
So now you know. “Riverside MOTHERFUDGER!!”

Recorded at the Halloween 09 UTR 16-18 year old event at Matter, O2 in London. Skream on the decks for Eve while she performs Me & My. Shouts to Skream for perfecting the ‘nonchalant DJ’ look so many other DJ’s have when spinning for rappers so quickly.
THE 50th LAW COMPETITION
You’d have to have been living under a rock to have not known that everyone’s favourite Curtis recently released a new book called ‘The 50th Law’ .
Co-written by Robert Greene (author of the “48 Laws of Power”), rather than it being an autobiography or a fluffy book about 50; it’s a self help book taking 50’s experiences in life and in the board room and boiling it down to a single principle to help others achieve success in their lives. I’m currently a few chapters in and it’s really good. So much so, I got in touch with the publishers and decided to get a couple of copies and a couple of exclusive 50th Law T-Shirts to give away.
