BASHY – WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE (VIDEO)

The Bashy former world exclusive on my Radio 1 show now has a video:

Shouts to Bish Bash Bosh, Toddla T on the beat, Des, George, CJ and the GGI familia. This tracks is HUGE – any DJ’s who aren’t playing it are waste. Simple as.

Can’t wait to see his performance at Radio 1′s Big Weekend this year during my set on the outdoor stage.

T2 – JAM SESSION

Last week on 1Xtra, my monthly live music session from the legendary Maida Vale studios came from Leeds’ bassline don T2 who took the chance to showcase some of his brand new material forthcoming on his own label ‘Powerhouse Records’.

He was joined by the UK legend who is Michelle Escoffery (who is also the featured vocalist on his current single “Come Over”) and future star H-Boogie.

I’ve been telling people for years about H Boogie ever since I saw her singing backup for older sister Estelle and now it seems she’s ready to step out as her own artist and I for one am very excited to hear what she comes up with. Right now though, it’s all about her two collabos with T2 – “On The Floor” and the track that you can download for free from the 1Xtra site “Better Off As Friends (La La La)”

Check out the video from the session:

@ THE BRITS

Pre-Show Stage

After the dust has settled and the world and it’s dog have all had their say and the ceremony has  been long forgotten thanks to the Oscars, I’ve finally found my camera cable and can upload my photos from The Brits!

If you are following me on twitter you would have been getting my up to the minute updates from The Brits. If you weren’t, in a nutshell – I thought Take That, Estelle & The Ting Tings, U2 and Kings of Leon were the best performances but The Hoff got the biggest cheer of the night from the audience. Estelle should have won an award and the Pet Shop Boys were completely underwhelming.

To say it was my first Brit Awards, I was balling on Jim Jones proportions! I shared a table with the boss of Radio 1 and 1Xtra, Westwood, Nihal, Gemma and the Radio 2 top brass; the head of Audio and Music at the BBC and Jeremy Vine and Claudia Winkleman – a mixed bag!

Claudia Winkleman, Nihal & Big Boss Ben all like a bit of KOL

I came away from the show, ducking out of the after parties (which I of course now regret having heard the stories!!) and got home with one thought in my head: the Brits is very…pop.

When you look at the American equivalent – The Grammies – they celebrate all facets of American (and international) music. Award categories for Country, R&B, HipHop, Pop and many many more genres. Then let’s look at the Brits – nothing for any genre; just pop.

The Brits should start to break it down. We have a great tradition of Rock, Indie, Dance, HipHop, R&B, Folk and Pop in this country to name but a few and we should celebrate it all. Just a thought…

Anyway, Gemma will be pleased: here are the photos!
